Kythera

Kythera, venturing to the island of Aphrodite

Our tour will take us along the rarely visited east coast of the Peloponnese, viewing the beautiful coastline and the town of Leonidio with its interesting architecture before heading to the picturesque traditional village of Kosmas situated high on the forested slopes of Mt Parnon. We end up at Monemvasia the best preserved medieval town in Greece. We cross to Kythera by ferry from the port of Neapolis.

The relationship with Kythera can only be a romantic one, relax and give yourself over to its subtle and watery charms. Let the island guide you as though this is the first time you are discovering the world!

Highlights

Monemvasia
A picturesque drive along the east coast of the Peloponnese will lead us to the best preserved medieval town of Greece, known by the Venetians as Malvasia. The old town of Monemvasia is a perfectly preserved medieval settlement that is still inhabited. It has a unique, magical atmosphere and a fascinating history. Monuments and churches are scattered throughout the old town.

Kythera
Legend has it that Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love, was born rising from the foam of breaking waves in Kythera. The island’s striking beauty owes it to the tremendous variety of sites: churches, landscapes, ruins, manor houses, bridges, caves, ravines, verdurous steams, watermills, beautiful beaches and attractive villages of great charm, all concentrated in a surprisingly small area. Kythera is a mountainous island that offers some beautiful walks. Between all these mountains and valleys there is a whole network of tracks and trails through pine trees, olive groves and flowers next to streams and waterfalls.
